BlueBub Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 July 2026
BlueBub ("the app") is a route-weather forecast app developed by KheniTech ("we", "us"). It shows the weather forecast along a travel route at the time you would arrive at each point. This policy explains what we collect, why, how it is shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the BlueBub apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play and reflects the data disclosures we make in each store.
Data we collect
| Data type | Examples | Purpose | Linked to you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Location | Precise or approximate device location | App functionality: show your position, plan routes & forecasts | No (not stored linked to you) |
| Advertising identifier | Apple IDFA / Google Advertising ID, app install & app-open events | Measuring which advert led to an app install | Yes (used for advertising measurement) |
| Crash diagnostics | Crash and error reports, device model, OS and app version | Diagnosing crashes so we can fix them | No (not linked to you, never used for advertising) |
| App usage | Which features you use (e.g. that a route was planned or navigation started), app open events | Understanding which features are useful so we can improve the app | No (not linked to your identity) |
BlueBub does not require an account and shows no adverts inside the app. We do advertise BlueBub on other platforms, and to understand which of those adverts actually lead to installs the app includes Meta's measurement SDK. That is the only reason an advertising identifier is collected.
On iOS this is your choice. Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks before any identifier is used; if you decline, no advertising identifier is collected and measurement falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork, which reports only aggregate figures with no link to you. On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads. Declining or resetting changes nothing about how the app works — every BlueBub feature behaves identically either way.
Location
With your permission, the app uses your device location to show where you are on the map and to help plan routes from your current position. Location is used only while you are actively using the app (in the foreground); we do not access your location in the background. Route start/destination coordinates are sent to our service to fetch routes and weather (see "How your data is shared"). We do not store your location history or your trips on our servers in a way that is linked to you. You can revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings.
How your data is shared
We use the following service providers to run the app. Route, place, and weather coordinates (not your identity) are sent to the routing, geocoding, and weather providers only to fetch the data you request:
- Google Firebase — cloud functions and caching, plus Crashlytics for crash reporting and Google Analytics for Firebase for app usage statistics. Crashlytics receives crash and error reports with your device model, OS version and app version. Analytics receives which features you use — for example that a route was planned, or navigation started — and never the route itself, your destination, your location or your weather results. Neither is used for advertising.
- Mapbox — map rendering (receives map tile requests).
- OpenStreetMap / OSRM — route calculation.
- Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) — place search / geocoding.
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts.
- Meta (Facebook) — advertising measurement only. Receives your advertising identifier and app install / app-open events so we can tell which advert led to an install. It receives no location, no route, and no weather data. See Meta's privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information. Apart from the advertising measurement described above, we do not share your data with third parties for their own advertising. Route and weather results are cached on our servers using anonymized, hashed keys that contain no identifier linking them to you.
Data retention and deletion
BlueBub does not create an account, so there is no account data to retain. Anonymized route/weather cache entries expire automatically and are never linked to you.
Security and data handling
All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, and access to our services is protected by Firebase App Check (app attestation). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
International processing
Our providers (including Google, Apple, Mapbox, and the routing/weather services listed above) may process data on servers located in countries other than yours. By using the app you understand your data may be processed in those locations.
Children
BlueBub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
- Revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
- Contact us with any privacy question or request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
